AMD introduced the new Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F desktop processors at an event in China. And they are very interesting for users who search economy version without integrated graphics.
The Californian company announced them at an event in Beijing that it used to launch its latest generations of processors, the 8040 for notebooks and the new 8000G “Hawk Point” desktop models. Considering the framework of their presentation, we believe that they were primarily developed for the Chinese market, although, as happened with previous similar designs, they will eventually make their way to the Western market.
You already know that the vast majority of AMD or Intel processors are integrated and contain multiple components on the same die. It is, among other things, a way to improve integration and reduce production costs. Of course, it includes the CPU, but also the NPU, memory controller or iGPU, which are of interest to us in this article.
However, there are scenarios where dedicated graphics cards are used directly and the integrated ones are really not necessary. He Ryzen 7 8700F This is a development of this type, and although AMD hasn’t provided much information, all indications are that this is a version without integrated graphics of AMD’s Ryzen 7 8700G “Hawk Point” APU. It will have the same configuration with 8 cores and 16 threads of native ZEN 4 processing, but without the enabled Radeon 780M graphics chip.
The second of the presented models with this design is Ryzen 5 8400F. It doesn’t have an equivalent in the general range at the moment, but it’s likely to be somewhere between the 8500G and 8300G, with 6 cores and 12 processing threads. These processors would follow the iGPU-disabled design line from the Ryzen 5 7500F. A model that was launched last summer for China, but finally made its way to the international market.
AMD announced the new “F” as part of its overall plan “attack all price ranges”. And that’s why we expect good prices for these models, at least lower than their counterparts with integrated graphics. This development is not for all users, but more alternatives are always welcome.
