A few days ago, a national court ordered the blocking of Telegram in Spain as a precautionary measure while it investigated a complaint which, as we told you at the time, was based on alleged copyright infringement because users of said messaging platform in which protected content is shared through specific channels and links, something that apparently escapes the control of those responsible for said platform.
Command to block a platform used by about 8.5 million people in Spain, communicating on a daily basis about the copyright issue was really crazy. There is no other word to describe an order which was excessive in every sense, in which the interests of all parties concerned were not properly considered.
Ultimately, the story tells itself. Leaving 8.5 million people without a communication platform defend the interests of several companies to have copyrighted content is a grave error, both in judgment and in weighing competing interests, and indicates a complete lack of protection for the greater good. Fortunately, the National Court recovered and said that the order was revoked, which means that Telegram will not be blocked in Spain.
