Apple introduced the A17 Pro processor in the iPhone 15 Pro models. Qualcomm’s latest flagship surpassed Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Cupertino-based technology giant is working on the A18 Pro chipset for the new generation iPhone 16 Pro devices. Now a Weibo user has shared two images showing different Geekbench scores, giving us an idea of how much of a performance difference there might be between the upcoming A18 Pro and A17 Pro.

A18 Pro’s Geekbench scores point to a big performance increase

The first Weibo post, which has now been deleted, states that the alleged A18 Pro scored 3,570 and 9,310 points in Geekbench 6 single-core and multi-core tests, making these scores 22 and 28 percent faster than the A17 Pro. In the same Geekbench 5 single-core and multi-core tests, the A18 Pro scored 2,571 and 7,359, representing a 20 percent and 38 percent performance increase over the A17 Pro, respectively.

Now when we come to the second article of the A18 Pro test, the results are a little closer to the A17 Pro. The upcoming chipset scored 2,822 and 8,571 points in Geekbench 6, while it scored 2,517 and 7,359 points in the benchmarking platform’s single-core and multi-core tests.

The Weibo user who shared the comparison results says that the final performance has not yet been seen. This is because Apple and other companies allow their chipsets to operate at maximum potential. OEMs then try to strike a balance between performance and energy efficiency. Apple’s A18 Pro is expected to be based on TSMC’s 3nm process. Rumor has it that it consists of two high-power CPU cores and six low-power cores.
