Taiwan’s Ministry of Economy (MOEA) has released a list of strategically important high-tech products that are banned from exporting to Russia and Belarus. According to the agency, the second country has been added to the list because it can help Russia import such goods.
The list includes the following solutions:
- Electronic components with a clock frequency exceeding 25 MHz;
- chips with a speed of up to 5 gigaflops and a bit size of the arithmetic-logic device from 32 bits and above;
- one or more ports or interfaces provide data transfer rates between components at speeds in excess of 2.5 MB/s.
- the number of contacts on the chip exceeds 144 units.
In addition, the supply of equipment for the manufacture of chips by optical and X-ray lithography is prohibited. The provision of scanners and electron microscopes for automated chip testing, as well as devices for direct sequential step exposure, is prohibited.
Note that in 2021 equipment for the manufacture of semiconductor products accounted for 32% of exports from Taiwan. These technologies are mainly purchased by China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United States.
