Google releases Arm version of Chrome for Windows computers

Google has released a stable version of the Chrome browser optimized for use on computers with Arm processors. The official release comes two months after the review beta was released on the Canary channel.

This version is of great importance for all users of Arm computers with Windows because they can use a fully optimized browser that will provide smoother and faster operation. First of all, owners of computers with Arm processors had to use the Chrome x64 program through emulation, which significantly affected performance.

It is interesting that Microsoft has long been releasing the Arm version of its Edge browser, built on the basis of Chromium, but for some reason Google has not done the same before. The optimized version of Chrome will technically run on any computer with an Arm processor, regardless of manufacturer, although Qualcomm currently produces such chips for Windows devices.

“We designed the Chrome browser to be fast, secure, and easy to use on computers and mobile devices. Our close collaboration with Qualcomm will help Chrome users get the best web browsing experience on today’s Arm computers.”— said a Google representative.

This isn’t the first time Google has released a version of Chrome optimized for computers with Arm processors. In 2020, the company released the Arm version of its browser for Apple Mac computers with Arm chips. Additionally, Google has long supported Arm processors for Chromebooks that ship with ChromeOS.
