Colombia expels diplomats from Argentina’s embassy in response to comments by the president of this country, Javier Miley, who called his Colombian colleague Gustavo Petro a “terrorist killer” in an interview with the channel cnn in Spanish.

“The Colombian government orders the expulsion of diplomats from the Argentine Embassy in Colombia. The scope of this decision will be communicated to the Argentine Embassy through diplomatic institutional channels,” the South American country’s Foreign Ministry said.

“This is not the first time that Miley has insulted the President of Colombia, affecting the historical brotherly relations between Colombia and Argentina.

“The Argentine President’s remarks undermined the confidence of our nation and also insulted the dignity of Petro, who was democratically elected,” he said.

Petro recalled Colombian ambassador to Argentina after Miley’s statements

A few hours earlier, Colombia recalled its ambassador from Buenos Aires due to remarks by Argentine President Javier Miley against President Gustavo Petro.

Miley’s statements – “an insult to the dignity of Peter”

President Milea’s words once again constitute an insult to the dignity of the President and the people of Colombia, who elected him legally and democratically.

“Consequently, the Colombian government will permanently recall its ambassador accredited to Buenos Aires and will ask the Argentine ambassador to Colombia to leave the national territory as soon as possible.”
