Ghent-based AI company Robovision raises $42 million for the American dream

Robovision, a Ghent-based company specializing in AI technology for production machines, has raised $42 million from investors. With these additional resources it wants to open the doors to the United States.

The wind is in the sails for Robovision, based in Ghent: an investment round has brought in 42 million dollars (+/- 39 million euros). Robovision is a company specializing in AI technology to support production processes and machines. The company achieved its greatest successes in the agricultural sector. Models of agricultural machines that can recognize and pick plants have been designed.

It is no coincidence that we write in dollars and not euros. The investors are three American investment companies. Robovision is focused on expanding across the Atlantic, founder and CEO Jonathan Berte told De Tijd. Following this and previous investment rounds, the company has raised $65 million in fresh capital to make the American dream a reality.

“Storm is coming our way”

It’s no surprise that Robovision is popular with investors. AI is everywhere and investors need these two letters to open their portfolios. Berte predicted the current AI trend years ago. “Artificial intelligence is a storm coming our way,” Berte said when we spoke to him in 2018.

He predicted that an entirely new economy would emerge based on big data and artificial intelligence. The success of his company is therefore no coincidence or luck: Robovision was there early and is benefiting from it today. Read the full interview here.
