MSI SPATIUM M580 FROZR is a new SSD from a Taiwanese manufacturer. At the head of its catalog for performance It is also one of the fastest on the market.

MSI says its new SSD “marks the beginning of a new era of storage performance with its cutting-edge technology and innovative thermal solutions”. The company refers to its enormous performance capable of exploiting the possibilities of the PCIe 5.0 interface and an impressively large cooler that keeps the temperature in check.

The drive improves on the performance of the SPATIUM M570 PRO, which until now has led the company’s storage offering. It uses the M.2 2280 format widely used in SSDs, 232-layer 3D NAND flash memory modules, DRAM cache and SLC cache, along with the PHISON E26 controller, which is key in every SSD.

With these components, the unit is able to achieve high data transfer rates 14.6 GB/s sequential read and 12.7 GB/s sequential write. MSI provides an advanced software solution with system health monitoring and data backup integrated into MSI Center.

Special mention for cooler With aluminum fins and three heat pipes included, it can reduce the operating temperature by up to 20 degrees for maximum performance. The cooler is pre-installed, but users can remove it and opt for a custom cooling solution that will come in handy if your PC can’t handle its massive size.

The user can view complete information about the SSD, including disk status, used capacity, and operating temperature. It also has LPDC ECC and E2E Data functions to ensure data integrity and reliability. In addition, MSI has partnered with Actiphy, a leading data backup solution, to allow users who purchase and install MSI SSDs in their computers to create backups.

SPATIUM M580 FROZR will be available in three versions depending on storage capacity: 1, 2 and 4 bytes. No pricing was provided, though they won’t be cheap and will always be more expensive per GB than Gen4 SSDs. The manufacturer will offer a high level of Tbytes written (TBW) and a five-year warranty.
