China Mobile announces the launch of the network for commercial operations 5.5G – for the first time in the world. The first smartphone to support this technology (it 5G-Advanced or 5GA) became the Oppo Find X7 Ultra. The photo showing the relevant symbol on the smartphone’s screen was shared by Oppo’s top manager, Pete Lau.
In an article published on the Weibo social network, it is said that Oppo Find X7 will soon receive 5.5G support. This is quite interesting since the smartphones are built on different single-chip systems: the Find X7 Ultra is based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Find X7 is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC.
It is expected that the number of smartphone models with 5G-Advanced support will exceed 20 within a year, and during this period, China Mobile will cover more than 300 cities with its 5.5G network. These will primarily be the metropolises of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
5G-Advanced network promises to be much faster than 5G: it will provide download speeds of 10 Gbit/s and upload data to the Network at 1 Gbit/s.
