The Ukrainian government plans to install a demining system using artificial intelligence by mid-summer.
According to Ukrinform correspondent, this was stated by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyridenko, at the opening of the photo exhibition “People, Teams and Technologies for Mine Safety of Ukraine”.
“We are working with Palantir (an American company that is a world leader in developing software for data analysis). They are helping us develop an approach to demining using artificial intelligence. We do this by predicting areas that require demining and, Svyridenko says, “Identify the most dangerous areas. “I think that starting from mid-summer, we will be able to demonstrate approaches based on artificial intelligence data to create a suitable demining system,” he said.
He added that this would be a revolutionary approach, but Ukraine was doing many things for the first time.
“If this experience is successful, we will be able to disseminate it at a global level to promote activities in the field of mine safety,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. said.
According to Svyridenko, the government wants to attract more innovation to the demining market. For this purpose, it is planned to organize a hackathon that will be able to propose ideas and make financing offers to Ukrainian teams.
“If these people do not have experience working with our bureaucratic system, we would like to provide them with support to acquire more demining UAVs and expand that experience,” the government official said.
