The launch of the first Falcon 9 rocket, which sent the Eutelsat 36D telecommunications satellite into space, took place from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on March 30 at 23.52 Kiev time.
Eutelsat was placed into geostationary orbit approximately 34 minutes after launch. The device will provide the customer with television broadcasting in Europe, Africa and Russia.
Then, on Sunday, March 31, at 03:30 Kiev time, another Falcon 9 rocket carrying 23 Starlink Internet satellites was launched from Cape Canaveral Cosmodrome in Florida.
The satellites were deployed to low Earth orbit as planned, joining SpaceX’s more than 5,600 broadband satellites already in operation.
Additionally, a third SpaceX rocket carrying Starlink satellites was scheduled to launch from Vanderbilt Air Force Base in California on Saturday evening, but the launch was canceled due to bad weather conditions.
Sunday and Saturday’s launches were the 30th and 31st orbital launches of American billionaire Elon Musk’s company this year. SpaceX plans to perform 144 orbital missions in 2024.
As reported, on March 26, SpaceX launched a new batch of 23 Starlink internet satellites into space.
