If we were to make a list of the most famous features of Windows, it should definitely have a Start menu. So much so that when Microsoft dared to try to remove it in Windows 8, the backlash against it was so massive that methods to bring it back quickly began to emerge, and Redmond ended up completely restoring it in Windows 10. And yes , I know that the complaint against Windows 8 was not exclusively due to the lack of this element, ModernUI was at the epicenter of the storm, but since the operating system also included a classic desktop (albeit without a Start menu ), if I had always thought that the reactions would not be so negative .
Now let that be the key element It doesn’t mean that everyone likes it.. Microsoft has a habit of changing this from time to time, with the best intentions of course, but not always with the greatest success. Without further ado, we recently told you that even those responsible for the operating system itself do not like its current design, and by the way, my colleague Juan took the opportunity to share that for him too catastrophe a very improveable element.
So, It is common for design suggestions to appear from time to time., some futuristic, others clearly nostalgic, a few truly revolutionary… in short, it is evident that we are talking about an element that appeals to all types of tastes. And to add fuel to the fire, last year Microsoft tested the possibility of deploying updates that are limited exclusively to the Start menu, instead of having to bundle them with updates to the operating system itself, which would allow it to be updated even more. often.

The folks at Redmond recently deployed build 22635.3420 of Windows 11 to the Windows Insiders beta channel, and as PhantomOfEarth has discovered, this beta includes an update to the Start menu that allows all apps to be displayed in grid mode. As you already know, if you are a user of the operating system with its current design, clicking “All” will display a sorted list of installed applications. So, thanks to this design change, we will be able to check installed software faster.
At the moment, yes, this new display mode is not very polished, to the point of being hidden, that is, it is theoretically not possible to access it. Now, if it’s hidden and someone finds out it’s there… indeed, it’s possible to summon it if you know how, and PhantomOnEarth will put us on the trail in his tweet. So if you’re in the Windows Insiders program, more specifically in the beta channel, and want to check out this Start menu redesign, you’ll just have to use the ViveTool (here we’ll tell you what it is and how to use it), using the following commands:
