At least five NGO employees World Central Kitchenchef José Andrés, died this Monday evening in an explosion carried out by the Israeli army against their car in the Deir el-Balah governorate, in the center of the Gaza Strip, as part of the Israeli offensive against the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

The dead include a British citizen, a Polish citizen and an Australian citizen. Details have not yet been released, the Palestinian newspaper Filastin reports.

For its part, the NGO acknowledged the deaths, assuring that it was a “tragedy” and that aid workers “should never be targeted.”

“We received word that members of the World Central Kitchen team were killed in an IDF attack while they were working to support our efforts to deliver humanitarian food to Gaza. This is a tragedy. Aid workers and civilians should NEVER be targeted. NEVER,” the organization posted on its account on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

Chef Jose Andres wrote that they are angels along with those with whom he worked in Ukraine, Gaza, Turkey, Morocco, Bahamas, Indonesia.
