game with antenna iPhone It’s about to get an update from Apple, and a new chipmaker is joining the party. According to the supply chain report, UMC has been contracted to produce key chips for Apple’s future iPhones. These chips will be integrated into the design of new antenna modules iPhoneand production is increasing.
The chips in question come from wireless chipmaker Anokiwave, which was recently acquired by Apple’s power amplifier supplier Qorvo. Qorvo is developing new iPhone antenna components and using Anokiwave technology. Notably, these new chips use UMC’s 3DIC technology, making UMC a major player in this iPhone antenna update.
Industry sources suggest that Apple has adopted this new design strategy to improve the efficiency and reception capabilities of its next-generation iPhones. This move coincides with the increasing integration of AI functionality into smartphones, where strong and reliable connections are critical.
This isn’t UMC’s first rodeo with Apple components. They were making driver chips for Apple through NovaTek. With this new contract, UMC has secured another order for critical iPhone components, underscoring the importance of its role in Apple’s supply chain.
