Swedish streaming company Spotify plans to increase its monthly subscription cost by around $1-2 for the second time in a year in several countries.
This was reported by Bloomberg, according to a report from Ukrinform.
It was stated that the subscription cost will be increased in the UK, Australia and Pakistan by the end of April, while the fee change in the USA will take place later.
Individual subscriptions increased by about $1, while family and couple plans increased by $2.
The article states that the increase in tariffs will help cover the costs of the audiobook service offered at the end of 2023. Spotify offers customers the opportunity to listen to audiobooks up to 15 hours per month within the scope of its paid plan.
The platform plans to introduce a new basic plan with a premium subscription price of $11 that includes music and podcasts, while users will have to pay separately to listen to audiobooks.
As reported, in October, Spotify offered all its paid subscribers 15 hours of free audiobook listening per month.
