We told you just yesterday Google has started testing Find My Device network modea long-awaited feature, because it provides a great added value to the location service of Android devices, putting it on par with the operation of a similar network that Apple already offers to users of its devices from 2020. Of course, The feature was only released to a small part of users of the beta version of the services Google.
So there were two reasons that led us to believe that its deployment might still take a while to arrive. The first, of course, was that it was only available in beta at the moment and to so few users. The second reason is even more powerful, namely that Google had everything ready for its launch for months, but made him wait until Apple implemented a series of security measures into your own network, with your own beacons and third-party beacons. A set of measures which, let’s recall, were signed by both parties.
However, only a few hours later we learned that finally Apple seems to have practically everything ready for implementing these security measures, which will, surprise surprise, be introduced in iOS 17.5. In this way, it gives the green light that we understand that Google has finally been waiting to be able to offer users of Find My Device on Android all the scale that is provided by converting a large part of the ecosystem of devices with this operating system to a global sensor network.

So all indications are that the wait can be measured in weeks, although there are those who suggest that we are actually talking about days. We will read about this in GSM Arena, which draws attention to it Find my device network mode will be activated in just three days, next Monday, April 8. And the source would not be a leak, but an email sent to some Android users by Google itself. In this report we can read the following:
«With the new Find My Device network, you can locate your devices even when they’re offline. You can also find any compatible Fast Pair accessories after disconnecting from the device. This includes compatible headphones and trackers that you can carry in your purse, keys or on your bike. Once this feature is activated in 3 days, you will receive a notification on your Android device. Until then, you can log out of the network using the Find My Device feature on the web.»
I have to say though This term seems too hasty to me, as the first beta of iOS 17.5 has just been released with the expected privacy features, so we’ll have to wait a few more weeks for the final version to arrive, and I’d be surprised if Google deployed the Find My network to my device mode now that it still can’t guarantee the desired privacy. So it seems more likely to me that this email was sent by mistake, but that Google is already preparing everything for its arrival between the end of April and the beginning of May.
