So the Ecuadorian police subdued Roberto Canseco, a Mexican diplomat; “I defended the honor and sovereignty of my country”
Roberto Canseco, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Political Affairs at the Mexican Embassy in Ecuador, said police in the Andean country raided the diplomatic headquarters “like criminals.”
In videos that circulated on social media Friday night, Canseco can be seen leaving the embassy in pursuit of cars with tinted windows and, as he tries to reach them, he is intercepted by police who detain him.
Speaking to reporters outside the embassy, Canseco said he hit his head on the ground and physically tried to prevent them from entering Mexico’s diplomatic headquarters.
“Like criminals, they raided the Mexican embassy in Ecuador. This is impossible. This simply cannot be. “This is crazy,” he said, clearly upset.
