Residents of the occupied areas were given advice on which mobile apps to use.

Residents of temporarily occupied territories should use mobile applications built on open source.

This was stated during a telethon by Yuriy Shchyhol, head of the State Special Communications and Information Protection Service, Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“Rashists (in the occupied territories – ed.) Disconnect Ukrainian mobile operators – physically turn off the equipment, deploy base stations and try to offer their services from the mobile Internet. I recommend using mobile applications built on open source, “said Shchigol.

According to him, these are the types of data that each expert can control – where they send information and what information they collect about their users – Signal, Briar, etc.

At the same time, Shchigol added that non-open-source applications can be used as channels of knowledge acquisition. However, you should use open source applications when it comes to sharing private information or information that could cause harm if it hits the enemy.

The head of the State Special Communications Service reminded that applications operating in Russia must, according to Russian law, provide special services that have access to personal information about their users.

As Ukrinform reported, on May 30, Internet and mobile communications from Ukrainian operators disappeared in the Kherson region. OBA urges residents not to provide passport data for the purchase of SIM cards of Russian mobile operators.

The State Special Communications and Information Protection Service noted that it will most likely not be possible to restore communications in the Kherson region in the near future, since the equipment is under the control of the aggressor regime and the Russian army.

Ukrainians in temporarily occupied territories are advised to use VPN services that provide privacy and do not collect user data.

Due to the lack of mobile communication, the Kherson region may lose the opportunity to use banking. There are problems with basic payments – state employees, social benefits.
