Apple’s smart home ambitions go beyond scope AppleTVAccording to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

In addition to the updated console Apple TV Apple is working on an entirely new device that has a built-in camera for FaceTime video conferencing and the gesture-based controls we previously reported.

Part of this strategy is a lightweight, smart display like a budget iPad. Such a device can be moved from room to room as needed and connected to outlets located throughout the house. Apple has begun small-scale test production of displays for the product but has not yet decided whether to move forward. Mark Gurman

He added that creating a unified “smart home” strategy remains one of Apple’s main goals, and that it has been difficult to achieve: “Sources have told me that the need to complete Vision Pro has been disrupted and resources have been diverted from the effort to create a smart home.”
