Xiaomi is preparing to expand its product range with the launch of the first open-type headset. The company confirmed that these headphones will be introduced at a conference scheduled for April 10, where the main focus will be Redmi Turbo 3. Redmi Pad Pro will also be introduced at the event.
Details about the headphones are limited, but a poster shared by Xiaomi on Weibo reveals the design of the headset and two color options. The housing matches the color of the headset and there is an LED indicator on the middle frame.
The technical specifications of Xiaomi’s first open type headset are currently kept secret. They are expected to focus on long battery life and wearability like other competing products on the market.
Unlike traditional in-ear headphones, open-back headphones sit just behind the ear canal, leaving the ears open. They mainly use bone conduction or air conduction technologies to transmit sound. Xiaomi’s upcoming headphones will use air conduction technology. Orders are already being accepted in China.
Last year, the open-back headphone market sold 6.52 million units, an increase of 130.2% year on year.
