Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will receive $6.6 billion in subsidies from the United States. for microchip production in Phoenix, Arizona, as well as up to $5 billion.
This was reported by the US Department of Commerce with reference to Reuters, Ukrinform reported.
TSMC needs to increase the planned investment by 25 billion dollars to 65 billion. Under the previous agreement, TSMC will build a third facility in Phoenix by 2030, in addition to two facilities in the state that are expected to begin production in 2025 and 2028.
The Taiwanese company will produce the world’s most advanced 2-nanometer semiconductors at its second facility in Arizona.
US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo emphasized that such chips are critical for the military as well as new technologies, including artificial intelligence.
TSMC, the world’s largest independent semiconductor manufacturing company based in Taiwan, announced the construction of a second factory in Japan, Ukrinform reported.
