Lenovo Legion Go 2, the Chinese brand’s second-generation portable console, is in development, as announced by Clifford Chong, head of Lenovo’s gaming division.
Lenovo held a conference in Bangkok to promote its notebooks in Southeast Asia, but attendees also had the opportunity to learn about the future of other market segments. Topics of discussion include development the second version of its handheld gaming machine and confirmation of a future launch, as noted by a Lenovo executive:
“We continue to spend a lot of resources on improving the current Legion Go. We’ve unlocked many more experiences since day one, and we’re still trying to incorporate the next wave of features into the product. It’s definitely a category that we see potential in and that we continue to invest in and we hope that when the time comes, of course, let’s have a next generation that offers even more features«.
Legion Go arrived after the well-received Valve’s Steam Deck and is one of those that managed to revive the portable consoles. It is a good premium console with an 8.8-inch screen, larger than the machines that we can consider its main rivals, the ASUS Ally, which has the same SoC, and the latest, the MSI Claw, which relies on processors from Intel. .
ASUS has already announced that it is working on the Ally 2 and the second generation of Lenovo, we believe it will follow a similar strategy, with an engine based on “Strix Point” APUs and architectures. AMD’s ZEN5/RDNA 3.5. We also think Lenovo will keep the general design and screen size to differentiate itself from the competition, as the s 8.8 inches is the largest of the rest of the competition.
The Lenovo Legion Go 2 could arrive next fall, a year after the launch of the original and with a price that would be between the ASUS Ally and the most expensive of all, the MSI Claw. We will tell you.
