Samsung microSD cards are some of the best sellers in the industry. The manufacturer has just announced an important update to its catalog with the new EVO Select and EVO Plus series.

Although many smartphones no longer support them, external and removable memory cards are still very useful when it comes to increasing capacity internal storage on certain devices and also when run applications or complete operating systems. MicroSDs are the most popular, and their use extends to dozens of products, from cameras to tablets, including portable consoles and mobile phones that still use them.

The new cards will be launched in the EVO, Select and Plus series. The cards support the A2 standard, which improves random read/write and thus the performance when running software from the cards, the U3 standard, which ensures compatibility with most 4K and high-definition video recording devices, and is compatible with the V30 standard, which increases transfers compared to the current version up to 160 GB per second.

No less interesting is that the new Samsung microSD cards will have versions 1 byte storage capacity. It’s the first time the company has included so much PC capacity and explains it “because consumers want more storage to store Steam Deck games, store more videos on smartphones and other content”. The manufacturer will also supply adapters for the SD format:
