The ex Vice President of Ecuador Jorge Glas He will be released from the hospital and returned to prison on Tuesday, the prison agency said. SNAI in a statement in which he added that his health was within normal limits.
Glas, twice convicted of corruption and now facing new charges, was arrested on Friday after a police raid in Embassy of Mexico V Quito, where he had lived since December.
He was transferred to Guayaquil Naval Hospital on Monday because he refused to eat food provided to him at the jail, according to the prison agency.
“On April 9, 2024, under strict adherence to safety protocols, Jorge G. will return to Guayasa Detention Center No. 3, where the protection of the physical integrity of the above-mentioned person deprived of liberty will be ensured,” the SNAI agency added.

One of Glass’s lawyers on Monday expressed “deep concern and dismay” that the former vice president had been unable to speak with his legal team or family.
The unusual raid that led to Glass’s arrest brought the dispute between the two countries to a boiling point, leaving Mexico suspended diplomatic relations with Ecuador and drew criticism from the international community.
