Andy Young, one of the engineers involved in the creation of Microsoft’s latest operating system, has caused some controversy due to a post on social media where it says Windows 11 is malfunctioning and specifically points to the Start button. To demonstrate this, he shared a short movie in which you can see that there is a significant delay that prevents him from typing in the search box.
According to Young, this happened to him with a PC configured with sa Core i9 CPU and 128 GB RAM, a piece of equipment he claims cost him $1,600. The rest of the components are not specified, but we assume that it will have an SSD, I don’t think you even thought of installing an HDD with a Core i9. All this aside, the truth is that I have tested Windows 11 in various configurations and had no problems in this regard.
Once I saw the video that Young shared, I decided to try it out on my desktop PC and laptop and I haven’t had this problem in either of them. As soon as I hit the home button, I was able to start typing directly into the search box without any delay and everything worked perfectly even on my laptop which has Core i7-11370H and 16 GB of RAM.
That makes an impression on me perhaps Young had many things open at the same timeor that any of them might have affected performance or generated some type of delay that affected the proper operation of the launch button, either due to high resource consumption or due to some incompatibility or minor bug, which are things that are usually quite common.
It is also possible that performance have been affected by advertisements displayed in Windows 11, a topic that was also controversial, although luckily we can get rid of these ads by following the steps we explain in this article. It’s very simple and you can do all these steps in a few minutes.
It’s generally true that Windows 11 isn’t faster than Windows 10, but it’s a long way from saying that Windows 11 performs poorly, and I honestly don’t think it’s demonstrated on a poorly-contextualized video that can be manipulated. After sharing the video, Young posted another post saying as much You hate Windows and want it to be just as good as it was at the time.
I’ve been using Windows 11 in my daily life for several months with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB RAM and a PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD as my main storage and I didn’t have the slightest problem with the performance. I am aware that Windows 11 is not perfect and that it has a lot of room for improvement, but I can say from my personal experience that it is also surrounded by myths that have stigmatized it unrealistically.
The Windows 11 Start menu is comically bad.
This machine has a $1,600 Core i9 CPU and 128GB of RAM, and that’s the performance I often get.
