The Avata 2 FPV is the latest model from a manufacturer that dominates sales of these small drones for the consumer market. And it comes improved in every way from the originalin picture quality, longer flight time, better transmission range and more reasonable price.
DJI has an impressive catalog of drones of all kinds, from the economical “Mini” for entry into this world to the high-end professional Mavics. The FPV version, like the last model introduced, translates as “First Person View”, have the ability to visualize the world as if you were inside the drone itself using special glasses that the operator puts on. These types of models are mainly used for racing or flying. Freestyle.
According to DJI, the new Avata 2 is lighter than its predecessor and also slightly shorter and wider, which should improve its operational stability. The manufacturer claims to have improved flight time up to 23 minutes and now supports PD fast charging. It also features a new two-way charging center with an energy storage function that allows the remaining power of multiple batteries to be transferred to the one with the highest level of charge.
In terms of photographic image quality, the new wide-angle camera o 12MP 1/1.3″ improves dynamic range, provides better images in low-light environments, and can record HDR videos at up to 4K/60 fps or slow motion at 2.7K/120 fps. The camera has a better tilt of -85 to 80 degrees, offers a maximum video transmission distance of up to 13 km and a minimum transmission latency of 24 ms.
Comment that the drone has 46 GB of internal storage, which is enough for 90 minutes of 1080p video at 60 fps. It has a wireless Wi-Fi connection for fast file transfer to your phone, post-editing and sharing of finished works.
Another novelty is glasses DJI Goggles 3 with which you should get remarkable experience in FPV. Dispose of dual micro OLED displays with a resolution of 1080p, a brightness of 700 nits and even have a pass-through mode. Received content can be shared live to smartphones up to 5 meters away.
Finally, let’s mention the DJI RC Motion 3 controller, which allows simple and intuitive one-handed control and the ability to perform advanced maneuvers for novice users.
The Avata 2 FPV is now available on the manufacturer’s website starting at the base price (drone only). 489 euros. As usual, DJI offers various kits to enhance the experience.
Most interesting (and, in our opinion, essential) is the “Fly More” package, which includes a Goggles 3 viewer, a Morion 3 RC controller and an additional battery for 999 euros.
