Subscribing to email lists is a very effective way not to miss news, offers, promotions and other relevant information that interests you, but the truth is that you tend to abuse this communication channel if you subscribe to many or companies of the companies in question. Your email becomes like a mailbox full of brochures.
While it’s true that Gmail long ago introduced a button that allows you to directly unsubscribe to speed up and simplify the process, there’s still a lot to improve. Google knows this and has already started with another function that will bring them together and manage them globally: Manage Subscriptions.
How Will ‘Manage Subscriptions’ Work?
PiunikaWeb explained that the secret code for this new function, which will increase control over subscriptions, has been available since January, but more information is needed to understand how it works. A more mature version of the functionality was discovered in version 2024.04.07.622678535; this allowed AssembleDebug to enable the tool via hidden flags. The result can be seen as follows: AssembleDebug’s X/Twitter profile:
Tap to go to X/Twitter post
What you see in these lines will be the way to implement it. So, all you have to do is tap the icon with three horizontal lines in the top left corner for the Gmail app’s side menu to appear and the ‘Manage subscriptions’ option to appear there. Touch access A new page titled ‘Subscriptions’.
According to the analyzed code strings of Gmail APK, this new function allows you to see: Who do we receive the most emails from?. So it filters less than 10, between 10 and 20, and more than 20 per quarter. The good thing is that, in addition to seeing who bombarded us the most, we can unsubscribe much easier and faster: the company logo will appear next to the unsubscribe button and that’s it.
According to this thread on Reddit, a select number of users saw a pop-up in the app asking them to try this innovation, but when they tapped on it, it took them to a blank page with a gear spinning indefinitely, which shows this: The feature is close to release and it’s just a matter of Google enabling it on Gmail servers.
