After a leak from a South Korean store, a new Surface Laptop Go 2 was officially announced this Wednesday by Microsoft. A direct successor to the 2020 Surface Laptop Go, Microsoft’s new laptop promises good performance and features an 11th Gen Intel Core processor.
Laptop becomes an affordable Chromebook alternative
According to official specifications released by Microsoft, the new Surface Laptop Go 2 features a 12.4-inch PixelSense display with a resolution of 1536 x 1024, 148 ppi, 3:2 aspect ratio, and a maximum brightness of 330 nits. The laptop’s touch screen also supports multi-touch gestures with support for up to 10 touch points.
This model features an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, integrated Intel Irise Xe video, 4GB/8GB LPDDR4x RAM, 128GB/256GB removable SSD, and a 40Wh battery providing up to 13.5 hours work depending on the application.

Connectivity options for the new Surface Laptop Go 2 include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, USB Type-C port, USB Type-A port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Surface Connect branded charger port.

With Windows 11 Home preinstalled, Microsoft’s new laptop comes with a monthly subscription to Microsoft 365 Family and a monthly subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It also offers features such as an f/2.0 HD camera (720p), Studio Mics, Dolby Atmos Premium speakers, an ambient light sensor, and a QWERTY keyboard with dedicated buttons for media and screen brightness.
In terms of security features, Surface Laptop Go 2 includes fTPM, support for the Windows Hello biometric authentication platform, and a fingerprint sensor on the power button*.
*Except for 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage model.
