The meeting was at the request of Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan and was soon received by the President of Malta, who chairs the Council this month. It will take place at 16:00 local time.
Israel demanded that the meeting serve as an “unconditional condemnation of Iran” for its “serious violations” and the appointment of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, an elite military body. as a terrorist organization.
In a statement explaining his request to convene the Council, Ambassador Erdan recalls that “The severity and scope of these attacks are unprecedented.“And it states that “Iran poses a direct threat to international peace,” which openly violates the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions.
