Star Citizen’s requirements have changed, and in a rather curious way, because not only are they much higher than the original requirements, but they were also stated in such an inappropriate way that of course it’s quite confusing in many aspects.
The truth is, deep down, it’s nothing new. Many times, developers and publishers announce requirements that contain contradictions and equivalences that are completely incorrect or poorly stated, and that’s exactly what will happen with the new Star Citizen requirements list, which It’s a big mess. in equivalences.
I will explain this chaos to you as we go, that is, as we directly see the new requirements of this game. I will list the errors in each section and the correct equivalences so that you are completely clear, although if you have any questions, you can leave them in the comments and I will help you solve them.
Star Citizen Requirements
Prerequisites.
- Windows 7 64 bit.
- Quad core CPU.
- Graphics card with DirectX 11 support and 2 GB of graphics memory.
- 8 GB of RAM.
- SSD drive for a better experience.

Minimum to move game
- Windows 10 64 bit.
- Quad-core CPU: Intel Core i7 or higher, AMD Bulldozer or higher. It doesn’t specify the generation or architecture for Intel, and the Core i7 has 4 cores and 8 threads, not 4 cores and 4 threads. Requires AVX instruction support.
- Graphics card with DirectX 11 support and 4 GB of graphics memory. Give as examples of minimum graphics cards from Radeon RX 460 and Intel UHD 730 to Radeon RX 5700 completely absurd because Radeon RX 5700 has 8 GB of graphics memory and In games, it has almost four times the performance of the Radeon RX 460.
- 16 GB of RAM.
- SSD disk with more than 100 GB of free space. It doesn’t require an SSD, but I highly recommend it.
Recommended level
- Windows 10 64 bit.
- Quad-core or octa-core Intel Core i7, Ryzen 5 or higher CPU. Again no mention of generations and generally speaking we need four or eight cores which is the worst I’ve seen in terms of a list of requirements to move a game.
- Graphics card with DirectX 12 support and 8 GB of graphics memory. They don’t give any examples, but The Radeon RX 5700 that they listed as the minimum would actually match the recommended level.
- 32 GB of RAM.
- SSD disk with more than 100 GB of free space.
Star Citizen is known for being a game with high graphic quality, but also for being terribly poorly optimizedso those vague and poorly thought out descriptions of minimum and recommended requirements are nothing but an extension of the bad work that Cloud Imperium Games has been doing for some time now in this sense.
