Dutch law enforcement officials, along with colleagues from ten countries, stopped distributing the FluBot malware.

As Ukrinform reports, NOS reports.

Dutch law enforcement, in collaboration with ten countries and Europol, shut down an online network distributing malware.

“FluBot stumbled upon the phones of users who thought they were following a link in a text message where they could track their order, but who thought they were actually installing a fake program,” the statement said.

It is stated that such software can send text messages, steal personal data, and provide open access to banking programs without the user’s knowledge.

Last year, this type of software spread rapidly, in part because of the ability to use contact lists on the phone on which FluBot was installed.

The Dutch cyber police team has developed a method by which the system is shut down. The Dutch unit cooperated with the police and security forces of Australia, Belgium, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Romania and the USA during the operation.

It was reported that no one was detained in the special operation. It was stated that the investigation was aimed at closing the fraud network.
