Microsoft announced that it will completely end support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 applications as of October 14, 2025. Mainstream support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 ended in October 2020 and October 2023, respectively. The company will end extended support for these two software packages next October.


For organizations that still need an offline version of Office, Office LTSC 2021 is still available but will end support on October 13, 2026. The company previously announced that it would release the new version of Office 2024 LTSC this year. The pack will be available as a commercial preview this month.

Office 2024 and Office 2024 LTSC will receive five years of support on Windows 10 and Windows 11. However, according to Microsoft, these versions will only offer some of the new features offered as part of the Microsoft 365 E3 cloud. the ability to host meetings, advanced search in Outlook, dynamic charts and arrays in Excel. Additionally, Office LTSC 2024 will not support cloud-based features such as real-time collaboration and AI-based automation.

Microsoft will release a new version of the platform in the second half of next year for organizations using Exchange Server 2016 and Exchange Server 2019. Until then, Microsoft recommends that customers who want to continue using on-premises Exchange Server upgrade to Exchange Server 2019; This version will be upgraded to a new version when it becomes available.
