The developer of the hit Linux distribution Ubuntu refused to cooperate with Russia

A new one has been added to the list of already large companies that refused to work with Russia after attacking Ukraine.

This time cooperation with Russian companies was stopped by the private British company Canonical, which develops and promotes free software projects, first of all, Ubuntu, one of the most popular Linux distributions in the world.

However, the company said it will not restrict access to security fixes for Ubuntu users in Russia, “because we believe free platforms such as Ubuntu, VPN and Tor are important for people seeking access to information and communication under censorship.”

Canonical also said that all revenue from Russia’s paid subscribers for the remaining services will be used to support Ukrainians who are currently in a very difficult situation.
