As part of the worldwide Summer Game Fest, Sony wanted to be ahead of other companies a celebration of this state broadcast live last nightwhich, although limited to a very tight 30 minutes and a relatively small selection of titles, certainly did not go unnoticed.
And as it seemed obvious Square Enix was one of the great protagonists of the nightauthorized to close the action with new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI in which some real pictures of the game were shown for the first time and also the expected release date of the game, which will be postponed until next year. This means that we continue to find other great standards such as capcomwhich not only by introducing us met expectations new demonstration Street Fighter VIbut we were surprised by the announcement remake Resident Evil 4 for PS5yes as a complete adaptation Resident Evil Village VRwhich arrives with compatibility for the current and upcoming virtual reality system.
Thus, although this state of the game wanted to be included exclusively in some titles of its third parties, in addition to these titles, this event surprised us new example Horizon: Call of the Mountain, spin-off of this adventure saga, which will be introduced as another of the first games adapted for the next PlayStation VR2; and also a little surprise from Insomniac and our friend and neighbor Spider-Man.
Although we currently find the entire State of Play video on the official PlayStation channels, we offer it below a small summary with all the titles and trailers introduced during yesterday’s event.
final fantasy xvi
Undoubtedly the big announcement of this State of Play brought another part of the main saga of this legendary RPG. From the hand of Naoki Yoshida (or Yoshi-P) himself, the Japanese company offered us a more widespread trailer with some details about the main story, the carriers and the Eikons; as well as a few fleeting scenes of his combat system, which will include a new interface and some changes to the latest real-time action system that the company has improved since the previous episode, in addition to what appears to be completely new battles in which we will face these titanic creatures.
Although undoubtedly the most important detail was the announcement of the first release date, which will take us until the summer of next year, in 2023.
Street Fighter VI
Another of the great advances of this State of Play was a new demonstration trailer for another part of another mythical saga, in this case returning to the old arcade machines. And it’s because the game Capcom not only offered us some pictures from the game Street Fighter 6, but also used it to show us some of the characters that will be available in it, as well as the presentation of new modes, such as the new HUD for a multiplayer game, with a common area where players can chat with other users before fighting.
Unfortunately, after moving to 2023, we still do not have an approximate date for its launch.
Remake Resident Evil 4
Beyond what was planned, Capcom surprised us with the announcement of the return of Resident Evil 4, which will arrive with improved graphics and gameplay to fully accommodate the new generation of consoles, on March 24, 2023.
Resident Evil Village VR
Returning to the expected announcements, the Japanese company also took the opportunity to present this complete re-edition of the latest Resident Evil, fully adapted for the new PSVR2 virtual reality system.
Horizon: Call of the Mountain
Sony also anticipated the release of a new trailer for the upcoming Aloy Virtual Reality Adventure, designed for the new PSVR2 system. Even though it wasn’t all. And that’s because Guerrilla used the phase to anticipate the immediate arrival of a major update for Horizon Forbidden West, which is currently available for PS4 and PS5 players.
stray
This diverse game of exploration, platforms, adventure and powerful story, better known as the cyberpunk cat game, releases a new trailer that offers us new pictures of her game and finally confirms the release date for next July 19th. Although Sony’s big surprise was that this game would be available completely free for subscribers to the new PS Plus Extra service and above.
Marvel Spider-Man’s Remastered
It’s not a bird, a plane or Superman. The one who makes a triumphant return to the new generation of Sony consoles is none other than Spider-Man with the remastering of the first part developed by Insomniac. Although the biggest surprise is the place, because it leaves the exclusivity of the consoles and its landing on the PC dates to next August 12.
Callisto protocol
Announcing in 2020, this immersive ambient horror shooter returns to offer us a deeper look at its dark world of cinema, which predicts a title that will undoubtedly take full advantage of this next-generation console in the next 2nd 2022.
Eternight’s
This quaint JRPG from 2023, which comes as the first title from the independent studio Studio Sai, offers us a mix of action, exploration and third-person combat along with touches of a dating simulator, all set in the middle of an apocalypse and with an attractive anime aesthetics slightly reminiscent of some Atlus titles.
Season: Letter to the future
This game, which differs a bit from the most common genres, offers us a much more relaxed experience in which we will have to explore and record our environment, meet new people and discover the strange world that surrounds us. With enormous freedom of discovery, we can get off the bike at any time and equip ourselves with another tool to capture the sounds, music, art, architecture, and even traces of past seasons; which will help us understand the culture, history and ecology behind it all.
The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2
The second part of this action and survival game, dated at the end of this year, will reiterate its availability with Sony’s virtual reality system, in this case focused specifically on the PS5 thanks to the already confirmed compatibility with the upcoming PSVR2.
No Man’s Sky VR
What was once called one of the worst editions still surprises us with the arrival of new and increasingly sophisticated additional content that has made it one of the big stars for space explorers. And by expanding its current availability, No Man’s Sky has already confirmed its future compatibility with the new PlayStation VR system.
rollerdrome
One of the most curious bets of this State of Play came with this third-person action shooter, which combines internal combat with graceful and smooth skating tricks to create a frantic experience like no other.
TUNIC
After completing this state of the game, we find one of the most popular games in recent months on the PC, which finally makes the leap on the Sony console. And it’s because the adventure and role-playing game with this brave fox has already been described as one of the “must play” for Zelda fans and shared many details of the first parts in 2.5D, along with the style of the most challenging fight retired Souls-like sticker.
