Not for everyone yet

“We’re in the early stages of testing a dedicated space for photo content and text in TikTok Notes. We hope the TikTok community will use TikTok Notes to continue sharing their moments through photo posts. Whether you’re documenting adventures, expressing your feelings, creativity, or just Sharing snapshots of the day, TikTok Notes is designed for anyone who wants to share and interact with photo content.”– Company X wrote on its page on the social network.

  • Judging by screenshots on the App Store, the app, like TikTok, will have two streams: a “For You” stream with recommended content and a “Following” stream.
  • The news feed looks like it could easily be confused with Pinterest; for example, two columns of thumbnail photos that maintain their original proportions rather than cropping them to a square.
  • Under the posts you can also see the text, author and number of likes.
  • When you open just one photo, everything becomes more Instagram-like. You will see indicators of the number of images in the carousel (dots at the bottom), the bold title, the main text in normal font, comments, a space to write them, as well as indicators of the number of likes, bookmarks. and comments.
  • You can also choose who can reply when creating a post.

Interestingly, the sign-up process is reminiscent of what we saw in Threads: When you open the app, the only available button (at least at this point) is to sign in, rather than a “Sign Up” or “Sign In” button. with your existing TikTok account. At the same time, the design of the home page is very familiar and taken from Pinterest.

TikTok did not say when Notes might be available globally. It is currently only available for download in Canada and Australia. We can only say with certainty that sooner or later it will also be released in UkraineSince Ukrainian is already mentioned in the list of available languages.

The launch of the new service comes at a time when many Instagram users are frustrated with Meta algorithms blocking the reach of their posts in the feed. If TikTok Notes is successful, these creators could have a viable alternative for posting photos.
