Razer Kishi Ultra, evolution in a big way

Once you see the first image of this new Kishi Ultra, It is clear that we are facing the most “Razer” of the devices of this family. And I’m not saying this at the expense of the previous ones, because both the analysis that the V2 version for iPhone was subjected to and the latest review of the V2 Pro for Android, in this last case with the unit that comes with the sensational Razer Edge, left an excellent taste in our mouths and, at least in my case, more than ever the desire to use our mobile phone to play.

Announced and released simultaneously, this new Kishi Ultra inherits everything that made the previous generation the most recommended option on the market, but withremarkable set of new features that it deserves the surname Ultra, and when I said that it is developing in a big way, it was not only metaphorically (which is also true), but because the first of the news is that this new controller is compatible with larger devices, smartphones and tablets.

Thanks to Apple’s adoption of a USB-C port, the Kishi Ultra is compatible with all models in the family. iPhone 15 aiPad Mini 6th generationas well as withAndroid smartphones and tablets up to eight inches. In addition, we can also use its USB-C port connect it (without smartphone/tablet) to PC/iPad and use it this way as a controller to play. All of these new features make it by far the most versatile Kishi we’ve seen yet.

We will also find new controls in it, two additional buttons (Home and Menu) on the frontto which we must add improvement of existing ones, such as a change in the side surface of the analog sticks, which is now rough textured to provide a better grip. In addition, in combination with the Razer Nexus app, we will now have more settings available to ensure a gaming experience better aligned with our personal preferences.

On the other hand, there’s a very common feature on Razer devices that debuts in this generation of the controller. I mean, I’m sure you’ve already imagined it LED lighting, present on both side lines which align with the thumbs when holding the Kishi Ultra. As with other Razer Chroma-branded devices, we can use the management software (Nexus in this case) to customize.

Another interesting improvement we find in this new generation is that the driver now offers support for devices with a bit more thickness, It is also compatible with using a smartphone with a protective case/shell, making it unnecessary to remove it to connect the remote control. Personally, it feels like a huge success, one of those little tweaks that add up to a big leap in comfort day by day.

The rest, and as expected, the Razer Kishi Ultra has all the elements that made its predecessor the V2 Pro the best smartphone controller of its generationsuch as a combination of analog and digital controls, membrane-damped mechanical buttons, a minijack connection so that we can enjoy the sound of games with wired headphones, and of course an extremely ergonomic design and solid construction.

The Razer Kishi Ultra controller is now on sale on its manufacturer’s website and is priced at 169.99 euros.
