If before, in 7 Days to Die, we talked about how to do things well, with the way PlayStation handled LittleBigPlanet 3, we found ourselves at the exact opposite extreme. example of lack of respect for the playerwhich sees not only a decision that can be more or less justified (after all, we are talking about a game released almost 10 years ago), but especially a way of proceeding by which… well, let’s say that it demonstrates its zero interest for community contributions.

LittleBigPlanet 3 was released in November 2014. and it was, of course, the third installment (not counting the titles that are not part of the main series) of the adventures of Sackboy, a fairly iconic character in the PlayStation ecosystem. Since its first installment, the combination of gameplay and design has won the hearts of many players, which has led to it becoming a fairly popular franchise, from which many people expect, even if it does not officially indicate, another delivery.

One of the defining aspects of LittleBigPlanet 3, signed by Sumo, is that over the years, Players themselves could create content and share it through game servers, which allowed him to significantly extend his life, as many of them over the years created a huge number of new levels, among other things. This was one of the big keys to its success and explains why the game still sells today.

Unfortunately, that’s over, and that’s why PlayStation he announced “indefinite” shutdown of LittleBigPlanet 3 servers. And yes, although they don’t say it more clearly and directly, we can assume that the indefinite acts in this case as a synonym for the definite. And at this point it is necessary to clarify that these servers were really the only way to access all the extra content created by the users themselves.

The LittleBigPlanet 3 servers have been down since January of this year, indicated at the time that it was a temporary shutdown due to technical reasons, leaving his players hoping that sooner or later the service would be up and running again. However, with this transition from temporary to definitive indefinitely, PlayStation slammed the door, discarding along the way the community-created content that had provided great added value to the base game for all these years.

I understand of course that the company sees fit to shut down the servers of a game that is already 10 years old. I’m sorry, but I understand. However, it doesn’t seem to me that PlayStation wasn’t actively working to allow players to download said content before the final outage. The company claims that technical issues are behind this decision, but I’m inclined to believe that if these issues were to occur in a newer title, they would look for and find another solution that would be less harmful to their users. However, in this case, they chose to show their level of respect to the community in this way.

Of course, va the second tweet (posted in response to the one you can see above announcing the closure definitive undefined servers) They claim to share this message «with great regret«and I think this is the moment I start biting my tongue.
