Of the features recently released by Google for its smartphonesCircle to Search is among the most practical. Deployed to Pixel 8 and Pixel 7 users (excluding the Pixel 7a) in January’s Pixel Drop, also present on Samsung’s Galaxy AI devices, and with more deployment within the Pixel ecosystem recently, all indications are that interest in the technology search engine is undoubtedly growing in this feature .

In its initial conception, Circle to Search allows us to select, using a circle that we draw manually, any element that is displayed on the screen from your smartphone and then automatically use the image search function of the search engine. The practical thing is that since it is a function integrated into the operating system itself, we can invoke it at any time and from any application, so the selection and search process is practically universal in scope and very simple.

Of course, the potential for selecting any element displayed on the screen is hugeand as we told you a few weeks ago, Google is also working on making Circle to Search also Circle to Translate, that is, it will allow us to select text and translate it automatically. Again, this is a feature already available in Google Lens, but with the move to Circle to Search, it’s faster and easier to use.

So while we wait for this feature to arrive, we already have a preview of the next one. As we read on PiunikaWeb, Google is testing the feature of sharing what we choose with Circle to Search, that is, what we could call Circle to Share. As you can see in the video about this paragraph, its operation aims to be exactly as simple as the search tool integrated into the system.

This Circle to Search extension is not yet functional, but was detected by AssembleDebug and From what it shows, it seems to be quite advanced already, so it can be expected to be announced soon, probably during Google I/O 2024, which could also be the moment Google has chosen to start deploying the translation feature integrated into this tool. If so, in less than six months, Circle to Search will significantly expand its reach and add new and very useful features
