Apple is reportedly cutting its Vision Pro orders for this year and reconsidering its next model due to low demand.
The long-awaited Apple Vision Pro hit the American market in February this year, priced at $3,499. The number of these VR glasses was already very low by Apple standards, but now it seems that the shortage is not that small after all. Apple may have reduced its Vision Pro orders for this year due to low demand, prompting reconsideration for the next model, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Reconsideration
Orders for the Apple Vision Pro are said to have been reduced to 400-450 units, compared to the market consensus of 700-800 units or more, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote in a blog post. This reduction will occur before the Vision Pro is released in markets outside the US.
Kuo also writes that Apple is in the process of adjusting its HMD product roadmap and there may not be a new Vision Pro model in 2025. According to him, the low demand reflects market expectations in the industry, so demand for certain VR and AR-specific products may not reach the level of adoption required for mass production.
