Looking Glass, a company specializing in holographic displays, has introduced a new format for “holographic” displays. It is distinguished by the fact that it can be viewed even on ordinary screens: monitors, smartphones and others. To create such works with 3D effects, artists simply need to transform their works with Blender, Unity or Unreal Engine. In the future, there will be support for Procreate, C4D, Zbrush, Nerfies and even regular portrait photos from a smartphone. This was reported by Techspot.
A “holographic” image is from 2 to 50 MB, the size depends on the resolution. The hologram can be placed on almost any site, but first poured onto the View Glass site – everything is the same as with video hosting videos. The final image is controlled similarly to 360-degree video: it is enough to rotate the 3D images with gestures (VR is also supported).
In the future, the developers plan to monetize their projects, but how this will be done is unknown.
