A new switching feature in Google Meet lets you switch between your smartphone and your laptop during a meeting without leaving the conversation.

Google Meet makes it easy to switch devices during meetings. A new switch function is being introduced for this purpose. Do you receive a call on the way? You can then answer the call on your smartphone and continue it on your laptop without having to leave the call again and again. Conversely, you can also easily switch from your laptop to your smartphone if you want to leave your desk to grab a coffee during the conversation.

Change yourself in an instant

The change function is very simple. During an active call, click to open the invitation link on the other device. A button to switch to the second device appears in the preview window. This will end the call on the first device and open it on the second device before the people you’re talking to have even blinked. This means you no longer have to leave the call and dial back in on another device.

Google is making the feature available to all Meet users. Everyone should have received the job by May 9th. The feature is available to both paying Workspace customers and users with a personal account.

Google has been creative in developing new features for its meetings platform in recent months. For example, an “on-the-go mode” has been introduced for meetings on the go, where you can literally raise your hand to ask to speak. Google Meet has also finally increased the image quality to 1080p. Despite these innovations, Google Meet is on the sidelines: eight out of ten Belgian IT experts use Microsoft Teams as their main platform for video conferencing.
