Fashion from artificial intelligence (AI) aims to increase the demand for PCs in the coming years. This possible trend is reinforced by a report published by the market research company Canalys, which predicted high demand derived from the expansion of artificial intelligence.
Those who follow market trends know that the main pretext for the revival of computers in the coming years will be neural processing units (NPUs), which are specifically dedicated to hardware acceleration of artificial intelligence processing. According to Canalys, 19% of computers shipped in the current year 2024 will have AI processing capacity, a percentage that will rise to 60% by 202.7.
The analyst sees both Microsoft and Apple shaping the AI PC market through hybrid strategies that include AI itself and its ecosystems. However, despite acknowledging the technological revolution that is around the corner, so is Canalys he mentions aspects such as resistance from some users and certain ethical concerns that have arisen around AIwhich must be overcome if this transition is to be successful.

Some of the aspects that the analytics company mentions about AI are improving user experience and protecting privacy, which is not helped by the fact that Windows and macOS are proprietary software. For the expansion of AI to be successful, the number of applications that rely on it in the future must increase to increase demand.
Despite the issues raised, Canalys predicts that more than half of AI computers shipped in 2025 will be aimed at the commercial market, which would surpass the consumer market in demand by 2027. This increase in demand would be primarily powered by hardware manufacturers such as NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and Qualcommwhich would form the basis of support; Windows and macOS as two major desktop operating systems that will include the necessary frameworks, drivers and APIs to cover this area; and finally there would be applications, both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumerite (B2C), that would displace the previous foundations for the previous two.

There are many voices announcing an increase in demand for PCs due to artificial intelligence. In fact, component prices are already rising, including hard drives, a technology that has been outmoded for years as a significant bottleneck in modern computers, although storage capacity remains more attractive to many who need to be very high.
