The price of the AYANEO Pocket S will be cheaper than expected from the Chinese manufacturer’s portable console, which has just landed on Indiegogo as a crowdfunding campaign.

It’s been quite a few months since we had the first news about this console and it finally looks like it will be available. Its hardware engine is the result of a cooperation of the Chinese manufacturer with Qualcomm releases its G series chipsets. They have been designed and optimized for the device small with the Android operating system and especially for the new generation of portable consoles.

The selected SoC is Snapdragon G3x Gen 2, development with 8 CPU cores (1 x Kryo Prime Ultra at 3.6 GHz, 4 x Ultra Kryo Prime, 3 x Kryo Silver) and Adreno A32 GPU. The manufacturer will launch it in many versions, but all of them will have at least 12 GB of RAM (16 GB as an option) and 128 GB for storage (512 GB or 1 TB) as an option.

All versions will have the same screen size 6-inch IPS LCD panel, but with two panels to choose from, FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) 400 nits and 2K (2560 x 1440 pixels) with the same brightness level. We don’t see an option for OLED panels, certainly a reason for the price of the AYANEO Pocket S to be quite low.

Its design has not changed from the familiar, with a thin body with cut-out screen bezels. It is equipped with analog sticks and a D-pad, joysticks with Hall detection, dHall linear insulators, mLinear vibration of the X-axis ag6-axis gyroscope. WITH Ergonomic designrounded corners and a curved back for easy grip, the manufacturer promises “an experience comparable to using a gamepad”say its promoters.

Very well connected, represents the Wi-Fi 7 wireless standard (which very few PDAs have) and Bluetooth 5.3. It has a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button, a 6000 mAh battery, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port (with USB-PD and DisplayPort alternate mode) and a microSD card reader. They also promise a «x86 cooling capacity».

Pocket S runs on the Android 13 operating system with the ability to play locally and in the cloud and applications such as the AYAHome launcher or the AYASpace management software. It is sold in white or black finishes and in many versions depending on memory and storage. The one with FHD screen will be available in May from $399 as the retail price, while the 2K display will cost $439.

If you pre-order now on Indiegogo, you can get a much cheaper price (328 euros). A very good price for a version that, without having the potential of, say, the MSI Claw, will be another entertainer in the revived segment of portable consoles.
