CEOs from OpenAI, Microsoft, Nvidia and other tech giants will join the U.S. government’s new AI advisory board, the Wall Street Journal reports. This committee will have to advise the federal government on the use of AI in critical infrastructures.

The AI Advisory Board, or Artificail Intelligence Safety and Security Board, will consist of 24 members, including Sam Altman of OpenAI, Jensen Huang of AI chip company Nvidia and CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella. Other companies also participating in the panel include AWS, Anthropic, Cisco, Google and IBM.
In addition to representatives from the technology industry, the panel will also include academics, civil rights activists and CEOs of some critical infrastructure companies.

The AI panel will be responsible for advising the federal government on AI, but has also been tasked with making AI recommendations for organizations in critical infrastructure, including companies such as manufacturers, transport service providers or electricity network operators. The panel’s topics will reportedly include opportunities to apply AI in critical infrastructure and the potential risks of the technology.
