We already said this at the end of February, when the presentation of the nubia Flip 5G took place during the Mobile World Congress 2024 and we learned that its price will start at 599 dollars. What’s more, my colleague Jose was so right that I directly reproduced the title of his information on the matter: “Nubia Flip 5G is what the industry needs to promote foldable devices.” And now that its price has been confirmed in Spain, we can confirm that this bet has since gone global part of 599 euros.

This is something that has become a hallmark of Nubia Technology, a technology company originally born as a subsidiary of ZTE, but which has become independent from it over the years, so that the two companies now maintain the status of associates. As I said, Nubia has for some time been known for offering more than remarkable devices at exceptionally competitive prices. A great example of this is the nubia Z60 Ultra, a beast at a surprising price.

So if with the Z60 Ultra this technology poses a huge challenge to the high-end market, now The Nubia Flip 5G does exactly the same, but in the foldable smartphone segment, a growing market which, until recently, was within the reach of only the wealthiest, which undoubtedly hindered its development to some extent. Could this new foldable device change that? At the very least, it has all the means to do so, and for that reason alone, I find this to be great news.

Of course, let’s start with the most remarkable thing about this nubia Flip 5G, which is its screen, although in fact both the exterior and the foldable (interior) are remarkable. As for the latter, we are talking about a screen built by sa Large foldable OLED panel, 6.9 inches, with FullHD+ resolution (2,790 * 1,188 points, with a density of 443 points per inch), which offers a refresh rate of up to 120 hertz and is able to represent 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. The exterior, on the other hand, shows an attractive circular design and focuses on notifications.

Inside we see that the phone is controlled by a SoC Snapdragon 7 Gen1, an integrated device aimed at the mid-range, mid-to-high range, and which therefore represents a fairly balanced proposition for the needs of ordinary users. We will find it in two configurations, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. And given the price difference between the two, personally The 12/256GB version seems to me to be the most recommended variant.

As far as connectivity is concerned, we can also find here everything that is expected from a smartphone in 2024. It is obvious (as can be deduced from the name) that it offers 5G mobile connectivity, which is accompanied by wireless Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.2. This section is supplemented by a USB-C port, which we will use, among other things, to power its battery, which has a capacity 4,310 milliamps and supports 33W fast charging.

As for their cameras, without being their strong point, combined with AI-based features, they offer a solvent proposition for the most common needs. The main consists of two elements, a 50 megapixel main sensor which is accompanied by a secondary, two megapixels to refine the depth of shots. As for the front, integrated into the perforation at the top center of the flip-up screen, it has a 16-megapixel sensor.

Other notable aspects of this nubia Flip 5G are its sound system which consists of two speakers and Compatible with DTS:Xand a fingerprint reader on the side, which, together with the cameras, allows the phone to be unlocked both with a fingerprint and with facial recognition.
