Remedy updates the status of its active projects

Remedy is one of those studios that, to be honest (its statement about development for two generations of consoles seemed sensational to me, as I said at the time) and works well, They have a fairly positive image among regular players. They recently confirmed their good work with Alan Wake 2, one of the best games of 2023, but let’s remember that they have previously signed other sensational titles such as Control, the first Max Payne and of course 2010 Alan Wake, probably one of the best titles of its generation.

The investment made in the development of a title like Alan Wake 2 is huge, so its economic return plays a key role in the future plans of any studio that embarks on a project of these properties. The good news in this case is that, as we told you more than a month ago, Remedy was already very close to breaking even, covering the total development costs of Alan Wake 2, which should translate into a huge boost to your current projects.

We already had information about them in the past, mainly thanks to presentations of results to investors, in which Remedy, in addition to talking about numbers, also provides information about its future plans, generally brief, but enough to know what to expect from us. And in this case thanks to the latest presentation We know the status of three Remedy projects: Control 2, Max Payne 1/2 Remate and Project Condor.

With respect to Control 2about which we already had information in the past, the presentation of the results tells us that the study is «aimed at completing the proof-of-concept phase where the game world, game mechanics and visual objectives are tested«, a phase that should not last too long, as estimates suggest that preparation for production may begin as early as this second quarter of 2024.

Without leaving the franchise, there is also information about Project Condor, a Control spin-off that will be Remedy’s first foray into multiplayer titles with a game-as-a-service model. However, it is hinted that this will not be a free title. The studio’s approach is to offer a premium game, but with a lower purchase price than if it were a single-payment title, and then generate more revenue through an as-a-service model. According to the studio, it is already in full production.

Remedy is also working to feed nostalgia Remake of Max Payne 1&2a project that doesn’t require too much explanation, as its name makes it clear that we’re talking about a good facelift of the originals from 2001 and 2003. Its current state is still pre-production, but it seems that this stage is already well advanced, to the extent , that it intends to start full production during the same quarter.
