iOS 18 is already being launched as the most ambitious update of recent years. It is expected to have significant changes, improvements and productive artificial intelligence features. In his Power On newsletter, trusted analyst Mark Gurman now explains the changes the next-generation OS update will bring to standard iPhone apps.
Original apps to upgrade from iOS 18 on iPhone
Gurman reports that the upcoming iOS 18 update will update Apple’s most popular built-in apps, including Mail, Notes, Photos, and Fitness. It doesn’t go into details, but we can expect these apps to have new features and a redesigned design. It is worth noting that the main applications on the iPhone are not updated via the App Store. They are only updated through iOS updates.
The Notes app was recently rumored to have two impressive new features, including a voice recording option and the ability to perform complex math calculations. The latter will probably be possible thanks to the calculator’s integration into the Notes application. Apple Watch-specific topographic maps are also expected to appear in Apple Maps in iOS 18.
Gurman also adds that iOS 18 will change the home screen. This will allow users to pin the app anywhere on the screen rather than being limited to existing grids. This will make the app design more modular and easier to update and customize. iOS 18 is planned to be announced at WWDC, which will start on June 10.
