Management is unlikely to believe that AI will completely replace humans, but the fear is much greater among IT staff themselves.
Integrator Insight surveyed 150 Belgian companies about their progress in AI. The results show that 77 percent of organizations already use AI tools, but only 5 percent have integrated them into their business processes.
No wonder: ChatGPT appears to be the most commonly used Gen AI tool (44%), with Microsoft Copilot in second place (27.6%). This increases the risk of “shadow IT”. When employees use open AI applications like ChatGPT, they may inadvertently share sensitive data with a public database. It is therefore imperative that companies integrate AI into their processes and give people access to well-secured solutions.
Will AI replace humans?
Another result of the survey is that 6 out of 10 respondents believe that AI will actually replace humans. While management is unlikely to believe that AI will completely replace humans, this fear is much greater among IT staff themselves.
“Ultimately, AI will change the way we work and take over some tasks or aspects of our work, but humans will still provide the data and ultimately make the decisions,” Insight said.
The top five benefits of AI are defined as: increased productivity (24.7%), predictive analytics (16.7%), improved employee experience (12%), and better decision making and cost savings (10.7% each).
Additionally, 30.7% see managing third-party risks as a major concern. A lack of awareness and training is cited as a challenge by 26.7 percent of respondents, while 24 percent perceive a lack of internal expertise. Finally, one in five respondents cited complex rules as a major problem.
