Social media posts have been highlighting this issue for the past few weeks, and some users suspect it may be related to the iPhone’s “Gazette Awareness” feature. This feature is designed to automatically lower the volume of notifications when the user looks at the phone. It has been suggested that Gaze Awareness may misinterpret the user’s attention and reduce alarm volume even when the user is asleep.

While Apple hasn’t confirmed the exact cause, users can try turning off Gaze Awareness as a potential solution. This can be done by going to Face ID & Passcode in the Settings app and turning off Eye Recognition.

Since alarms are key to any smartphone user’s schedule, and bugs and issues like these only increase the frustration of the user who has to rely on other methods to reliably set the alarm clock, fixing this issue is high on Apple’s priority list.
