New “Ad-hoc Chat” feature now available on ChatGPT Web

OpenAI is giving users more options to interact with ChatGPT with a new update to data control. Previously, users complained about the lack of or non-existent conversation history privacy mode. However, this update affects not one but two key features:

This update addresses privacy and data controls for users

  • Full access to chat history: Previously, users who did not choose to provide conversation data for ChatGPT training did not have access to their chat history. This update removes this restriction, allowing anyone to view past interactions regardless of data sharing preferences. OpenAI also assures users that their previous data sharing preferences will be respected.
  • Temporary chats: A new “ad hoc chat” feature is available for conversations about sensitive topics or that you don’t want to record. Conversations in this mode are not stored in chat history and provide a private and temporary way to interact with ChatGPT.

The update is currently available on the web version of ChatGPT and the mobile app will be available soon. This update is a reminder of OpenAI’s commitment to a user-centric approach that offers more control over chat history, respects login options, and features like ad-hoc chats for enhanced privacy.
